The CTEDL began an intensive effort to examine and review teaching
and learning through more frequent and engaging dialogue with faculty.
The CTEDL offers a unique venue for
faculty, particularly in a career university setting, to discuss those
issues pertinent to education, teaching, and learning and reflect by
asking ourselves:
-
What makes a good teacher?
-
What is good teaching about?
-
Is it about passion for teaching
as much as it is about reason?
-
As faculty members do we measure
our performance in terms of what we do in class or what we "produce" in
educational results from these classes?

Good Teacher
Workshops define what we as faculty characterize as good and poor
teachers. Faculty examine their educational experiences and define what
good teachers do in the classroom that enhances student learning. Good
teachers ask the questions:

What do I
know about how we learn? How do I
prepare to teach? What do I expect of my
students?How do I conduct my
classes?
How do I treat my students?
How do I evaluate my students?
