Through research, literature reviews, site observations, and JWU faculty input, the following has been identified, collected and published for the University community:

a)  generally accepted and innovative approaches to college teaching,

b)   instructional models, and

c)   best practices determined by collegial experts and practitioners in the field of education as exemplifying quality teaching in higher education.

"Best practices in teaching excellence" is a compilation of the scholarship of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. It models the strategy of “benchmarking”, a process by which organizations identify, learn, and adapt what are considered “best practices” in industry which assist in improving performance.

The purpose for identifying best practices in teaching is to demonstrate that learning by example from demonstrated best practices is an effective way to understand the principles and the specifics of effective pedagogy.
