Artificial
Intelligence
What is AI? What is "Robotics:?, What are
"Perception Systems" (or Intelligent Robots)?, What
can Natural Language Processing do? Read the section on Artificial
Intelligent and explore the following sites. These should help further your
understanding of the topic. When you have finished answer the question at the
bottom of the page.

Neural Networks:
- Neural Networks
- A neural network designed to pick stocks that can be bought and sold quickly
for profit. A complete record of the network's success (or lack of it) is
available as well as an interesting description of basic neural network design.

Artificial Life, the Turing Test, and AI Ethics:
- Turing Test: To pass the Turing test, a computer must successfully
fool a human into believing that it is also a human. The classical test was
done by placing the human in one room and having them communicate with a entity
in another room. They would carry on a conversations and the person would
guess whether they were speaking with a human or a machine.
- Eliza is the most famous program to pass this test. Eliza
is a computer psychoanalyst. A person using Eliza may start a session as follows:
Person: "Hello" Eliza: "Hello. Do you have something you wish to discuss?"
Person: "Yes. I have been having a difficult time with my job." Eliza: "Tell
me more about the difficult time with your job." Person: "It's my boss. I
think I'm going to go postal." Eliza: "What exactly do you mean when you say
you are thinking of going postal." etc. Try Eliza yourself! Eliza

- People found that in their discussion with Eliza they experienced being
relaxed and that a burden had been lifted from their shoulders after the
discussion. Even after finding that Eliza was a computer program, people
still enjoyed their session with Eliza. Eliza was developed by Joseph Weisenbaum
in the 70's, who later abandoned the program feeling that it was ethically
wrong for people to seek help on a personal issue from a machine.
Virtual Reality (VR):
- Based on your reading, make a prediction of what a robot
will do for us in the year 2025?
You can use a search engine to further your research. Make sure you
give a complete explanation of what this robot will be like using all the
information in this section.
