Course Description:     

Effective leaders in modern organizations need to be adept at responding to and managing change and they need to develop professional competency in key interpersonal skills. This course will review how managers can become effective leaders by drawing on a knowledge of contemporary concepts in the areas of organizational behavior, change and leadership. In addition to developing diagnostic and problem solving skills, a major focus of this course will be helping students develop a professional competency in the interpersonal skills that numerous studies have shown to be critical for being a successful leader in an organization. Case studies, self‑assessments, and experiential exercises will be used to develop skills that are at a professional level of competence and to explore practical applications of the concepts covered in this course. Videos will be used to provide role models for desired interpersonal skills. Throughout the course, the ethical, international, and multicultural dimensions of leadership and organizational behavior will be highlighted.
