My
teaching philosophy
I firmly believe that what you learn in my courses is directly related to how much effort you put into them. Learning is not a passive activity. My job is to organize and present the course material, but you must do the learning by actively engaging in all aspects of the course. To get your money’s worth, you must study, not simply scan, the assigned readings. Make a note of any questions that you have or anything that you want to better understand. Listen actively in class. Ask yourself how the material being discussed may be useful to you in the future. Ask questions – not only to me but to your other classmates. Take full advantage of our cultural diversity to better understand each other. If you are serious about learning, I will help you in any way I can. Learning is an intellectual journey. I will do my best to lead you on this journey, but only if you are willing and able to follow.
